Bucket List

Do you have a bucket list? If you do, just how well are you getting through it? It might be a cliché, but you only live once…

So, if you don’t happen to have made a bucket list, now is the time to start jotting down your hopes and desires just so you make sure you get them all ticked off. Not only does having a bucket list give you something to aim for, but it’s really important to look after your mental health and a bucket list can help to do that.

In this article I wrote “No matter how many material things we manage to acquire throughout our lifetime, there will always be something missing if we don’t take care of our mind as well. What that means is that people should look to be happier by doing different things which takes them out of their comfort zones”.

But maybe you don’t even know what you want to see and do. In that case, here is a list to help you out on some of life’s most basic but rewarding experiences.

Grow your own food

Sure, it’s not daring or going to make your heart race, but growing your own food is very rewarding. You don’t need a big back yard for this, as (for example) lettuce can grow practically anywhere in the summer. Most people buy mixed salad leaf seeds online and plant them in some soil they’ve put into a basket. Leave the basket on a windowsill and give it plenty of water and you’ll have your own salad in no time. Other easy vegetables to grow are tomatoes, eggplants and potatoes.

Learn something new

How many times have you been on vacation and longed to be able to speak a different language fluently? Or perhaps you’ve spent an evening eating at your favorite sushi restaurant wondering how such perfect parcels of rice can be created. The bottom line is, the only thing that’s stopping you is you, and there are plenty of online courses and groups you can join to learn a language if you put your mind to it.

Perform on stage

Even if you are the most reserved person in the world, you will get something out of performing in front of an audience – be it bravery, an ego boost, a new found passion for acting or simply just the self-satisfaction that you can. To get inspired, why not go along to a famous show on Broadway and see which part you can see yourself playing? You don’t have to spend a fortune as you can often snap up discount tickets if you know where to look.

Find your roots

Before you start jumping out of planes and climbing the highest mountains, find out where you’re from. Have you looked into your ancestral history yet? You may find out something that inspires your path in life in a really positive way. With this in mind, why not try keeping a journal so that you can look back on it when you’re older and wiser!?

Those are just a few things to add to your bucket list. Some of them are small and easily achievable, whereas others will take a bigger leap of faith. But why not add them all?
