Hunter S. Thompson fans have been patiently waiting over 10 years for ‘The Rum Diary’ to reach the big screen. Finally, the film has a premiere date, October 28, and the first trailer has just been released.
After starring in ‘Fear and loathing in Las Vegas’, another Thompson big screen adaptation, back in 1998, Johnny Depp signed on to this particular project in 2000. And now, more than a decade later, thanks to director Bruce Robinson, we will get to see Depp portraying Paul Kemp, a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul becomes involved with a beautiful young woman, played by Amber Heard, and the film also stars Richard Jenkins and Aaron Eckhart.
Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think. Are you looking forward to ‘The Rum Diary‘? Personally, I can’t wait to see a movie where Johhny Depp (1) doesn’t wear excessive make-up and (2) isn’t a pirate.
