In 1924 Macy’s had the first parade with the intention of attracting attention to the store, in NYC. And what better way to attract attention with? You guessed it! So in 1927 Felix The Cat had the honor of being the first giant balloon which started the Big Apple’s tradition called ” Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade “. Year after year Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has become the most popular holiday parade in America and with good reason :
