Woman Dress

Now that spring has finally sprung and the weeks are warming up, are you giving some thought to what you’re going to wear on warmer days? If you’ve a passion for fashion, be sure to follow top fashion bloggers like Chiara Ferragni of ‘The Blonde Salad’, Nicole Warne of ‘Gary Pepper Girl’ and Gabi Gregg of ‘Gabifresh’, and take inspiration from glossy prints too. Fashion magazines, for instance, are just one of many great gift ideas for women, but are especially good if you feel like treating yourself and like to keep on top of what to wear! So, cast off your coat, banish your leggings and fold away those tired jumpers…here are the spring summer fashion trends you’re going to be sporting in 2016!

Breton stripes

A style staple, Breton stripes are going nowhere – thank goodness! Perfect for all ages and occasions, Breton stripes add a Parisian nod to even the most laid back outfit. If girly isn’t your thing, throw on a Breton tee with a pair of ripped jeans and a leather jacket for instant rock and roll. Or, go prim and proper with a pair of tailored trousers, sophisticated up do and bright nail varnish for a smarter look.

Silk slips

Underwear as outwear is a trend that’s been all over the catwalks, beloved by major designers such as Givenchy, Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. Slip on a silk nightdress with a denim jacket for hazy summer afternoons (opting for maxi length if you want to keep it on the casual side), or go for a colored number with sun kissed skin for a glamorous night on the town.

Bare shoulders

Shoulders are the bit of flesh to flash this year, so expect to see a swathe of halter necks, dropped shoulder blouses and playful cut-outs. Halters and cut outs will ensure that your outfit stays on the structured side, whereas fully off the shoulder Bardot-lined tops and dresses will add a whimsical and sensual feel. Opt for a cropped floral gypsy prints for maximum effect, or a cold shoulder dress for casual drinks. We love this trend and will be remembering to slather on the sun cream so our shoulders stay bronzed, not burned!

Lace

A popular feature of spring and summer since time immemorial, lace is romantic, feminine, and occasionally a little bit sexy. For day time, take inspiration from designers like Burberry by opting for delicate lace in cheerful shades, such as pale lemon and cornflower blue. Weightier lace will see you through unpredictable weather or blustery days, and darker, embellished lace will ensure you centre stage for date nights and evenings with the girls.

Orange

Girl Orange

Make way for orange! It’s a punchy, impactful color and looks great on every skin tone. Not sure how to wear it? Opt for a solid block of color, like a vibrant dress, or for a fitted T-shirt with indigo denim: blue and orange complement each other very well, as Jill Sanders and Karen Walker both demonstrated at New York Fashion Week. If nothing else, this trend is sure to add a burst of joy under a predictably grey British sky this summer!
